Structural Integrity, Premium Construction

Superior structural integrity means we won’t space a framing member more than 16″ apart, including rafters, and all exterior walls are framed with 2″ x 6″ studs. The additional lumber secured closer together provides increased structural integrity while also allowing room for additional insulation. Our subfloors are 1 and 1/8″ tongue and grooved Advantech® - nearly twice the thickness building code requires. Each section is glued, nailed, and screwed down to the floor joists, almost eliminating noise from the upstairs. Every home has structural OSB sheathing — not blue foam boards you can put your foot through. Tyvek® moisture barrier is used on all exterior walls keeping moisture out but allowing vapors to escape. Each of our foundations is designed and stamped by a licensed structural engineer and goes through a four-part inspection process. Structural framing plans are also designed and stamped by professional engineers for each and every Kurk Home. These detailed engineering plans are used during the third-party inspection process to ensure quality, peace of mind construction.  This process enables our family company to provide a 20-year structural warranty - twice the industry standard.

Optimum Efficiency

Kurk Homes exceeded the latest EPA based Energy Star™ 3.0 Program. Our insulation package utilizes fiberglass insulation with R-19 in the exterior walls, R-22 in sloped ceilings, and attic “hot spots” and R-38 in the ceilings. Kurk Homes uses only Low E3 double-paned windows, ridge vents, and continuous soffit ventilation. 

Combine these features with our 16 S.E.E.R. air conditioning units with media air filters and fresh air intake, matching gas furnaces, and 50-gallon rapid recovery gas water heaters and you’ll save hundreds of dollars per year in energy bills while building a cleaner environment for the future.

Peace of Mind

Kurk Homes utilizes third party Code Inspectors to certify each critical juncture of construction: Foundation, Framing Structure, Mechanical Operation, Plumbing/Ventilation Systems, and Final Lot Grading. Kurk Homes is one of the select builders who specializes in builders' warranty on new homes. We qualify to offer a 20-year structural warranty to our customers. 

The homes we build have 12-gauge wiring requiring 20-amp breakers for higher amperage loads, 200-amp service, protective GFI circuits in all wet areas, and smoke detectors exceeding county codes.
